At about 10:44 AM, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, an officer assigned to a paid detail at 620 Dudley Street, made an onsite arrest of John Depina, 28, of Brockton.
Boston Police Operations advised all officers of a motor vehicle that failed to stop for the Massachusetts State Police on I93 South at about 10:14 AM. A detail officer working on Blue Hill Avenue, observed the motor vehicle traveling towards Dudley Street.
A second detail officer was aware of this information and observed the suspected motor vehicle parked, and unoccupied in the area of 262 Dudley Street. The detail officer requested assistance, and observed the suspect inside a pizza shop.
Officers entered the store and advised the suspect of the reason for stopping him. As officers attempted to handcuff the suspect, he began to resist officers and a struggle ensued. Officers were able to handcuff the suspect, and recovered a plastic bag of what they believed to be drugs.
As officers conducted a motor vehicle inventory search, they recovered a pill bottle with miscellaneous pills, as well as multiple rounds of live ammunition.
Depina was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, possession to distribute class B, possession with intent to distribute class E, and resisting arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
