At about 9:08 PM, on Thursday, March 14, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Nathaniel Wallace-Gomes, 24, of Somerville, on firearm related charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Quincy Street when they observed a motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed. At this time, officers activated their marked cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop at Bird Street and Virginia Street.
Officers made contact with the operator and requested his license and registration. The operator immediately placed the vehicle in drive, and fled the traffic stop. Officers were able to locate the vehicle in the area of 16 Baker Avenue, unoccupied, and still actively running.
Officers broadcasted a description of the suspect, and responding officers began to canvass the area. Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force located the suspect in the area of Cedar Place. Officers continued to search the flight path of the suspect, and recovered a firearm and a large plastic bag believed to be containing drugs.
The firearm was later determined to be a Diamondback firearm with six rounds in the magazine. The drugs were later determined to be Fentanyl with a weight of 11 grams, cocaine, and crack cocaine. Officers also seized $1,259 in US currency.
Wallace-Gomes was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, trafficking of class A, four counts of possession with intent to distribute class B, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and refusal to submit to a police officer. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
