Investigation Update: At about 4:15 PM, on Friday, March 8, 2024, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Daniel Robinson, 27, of Newton in the area of 1077 Washington Street, Newton. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted on a straight warrant out of Brighton District Court for armed robbery with a firearm, assault and battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court.
After further investigation, detectives assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) will seek additional charges out of Roxbury District Court in relation to a similar incident which occurred on the same day. The information on both incidents are detailed below.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the prior incident are as follows: At about 11:46 AM, on February 6, 2024, officers assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) responded to the area of 584 Washington Street for a report of an armed robbery. Officers were advised that the suspect pulled out a firearm from his waistband and demanded money. The suspect jumped over the counter and stole approximately $400-$500 from the cash register. The suspect fled the area towards Montfern Avenue.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the second incident are as follows: At about 12:50 PM, on February 6, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 517 Warren Street for a report of an armed robbery with a firearm. Officers were advised that the suspect brandished a firearm, and stole approximately $800. The suspect fled the area towards Elm Hill Avenue. The description of the suspect, matched the description of an earlier armed robbery that occurred in Brighton.
