At about 12:21 PM, on Monday, February 26, 2024, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to 240 Tremont Street for a death investigation. On arrival, officers located two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has since been identified as Aanya Vinay, 25, of Brookline. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide. Further investigation revealed Keith Ashby, 43, of Boston, shot and killed Aanya Vinay, then killed himself, and his death has been ruled a suicide.
