At approximately 3:38 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024, officers from the B-3 (Mattapan) Anti-Crime Unit apprehended Nyjhon Jones, 19, of Mattapan, on charges related to firearms.
While conducting a firearm investigation in the area of Walk Hill St and Fottler Rd, officers identified Jones as the subject of their inquiry. Jones, wearing a black hat, black ski mask, black glasses, black jacket, blue jeans, and tan boots, was observed walking along Fottler Rd with his hands in his pockets, seemingly guarding an object in his front waistband.
As Jones approached the officers’ location, he noticed them and displayed sudden shock, though he continued to guard the object. Aware of their investigation, officers exited their cruiser and detained Jones. Upon removing his hands from his pockets after initial resistance, officers discovered a heavily weighed down right jacket pocket. Upon further inspection, they observed a firearm inside. Swiftly, they seized the firearm, identified as a Hi Point CF .380 loaded with 1 round in the chamber and 7 additional rounds in the magazine, with an obliterated serial number.
Jones was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. He is set to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court.
