B-2 Officers Continue to Address Quality of Life Complaints in Nubian Square

At about 5:30 PM, on Sunday, February 25, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested, Ronnie Powell, 38, of Roxbury, on drug charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Roxbury Street and Washington Street to address ongoing quality of life complaints. Officers observed an individual enter a motor vehicle for a few minutes then exit and re-enter another vehicle. Officers believed the actions to be street level drug transactions.

Officers observed both motor vehicles drive away from the area. Officers immediately activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate separate traffic stops.

Officers stopped one vehicle in the area of 11 Moreland Street. Officers requested the driver to exit the vehicle, and recovered a small plastic bag containing what they believed to be crack cocaine.

Other officers were able to stop a second motor vehicle in the area of Dudley Street and Pevear Place. Officers informed the suspect of the reason behind the motor vehicle stop, and requested his driver’s license. The suspect did not have an active license and officers requested him to exit the vehicle. Officers placed him into handcuffs, and conducted a motor vehicle inventory search. Officers recovered $981 in US currency from the suspect, and crack cocaine from inside the vehicle.

Powell was placed under arrest and charged with: Possession with intent to distribute class B, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

The other suspect was summonsed to court for possession of class B.
