At about 8:20 PM, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Hector Lara Cruz, 24, of Dorchester on drug trafficking charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Washington Street when they observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and fail to stop for a red light. Officers immediately activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.
Officers made contact with the operator and requested his license and registration. Officers later determined that the operator did not have an active license. Officers requested the operator to exit the vehicle, and placed him into handcuffs. As officers searched the suspect, they recovered a large bag of what they believed to be drugs.
During the booking process, officers further examined the bag which revealed 67 individual wrapped plastic bags containing Fentanyl. Officers also recovered another plastic bag containing 263 pills believed to be Percocet’s. The fentanyl was later determined to be 80 grams, and the Percocet’s weighed about 33 grams
Cruz was placed under arrest and charged with: Trafficking of class A, trafficking of class B, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
