At about 8:18 PM, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District C-6 (South Boston) arrested Jorge Santiago Collazo, 31, of Boston, on drug trafficking charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Southampton Street to combat the ongoing quality of life issues. Officers observed a large group gathering in the area adjacent to 895 Massachusetts Avenue. This particular area has a posted “No Trespassing or loitering” sign.
Officers approached the group, and an individual attempted to walk away. Officers advised the group to stop, and produce identification. As all parties began to leave, officers observed a black bag on the ground from where one individual was walking from. Officers observed the bag to contain approximately twelve individually wrapped plastic bags of brown powder believed to be fentanyl. Officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs. The drugs were later determined to be fentanyl with a weight of 13 grams.
Collazo was charged with: Trafficking of class A, and trespassing. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
