BPD In The Community: This year’s launch of the Volley Against Violence program witnessed the presence of officers from both Area B and C.
Volley Against Violence (VAV), a collaborative initiative with the Boston Police Department, gathers youth of all ages from various parts of Boston at Sportsmen’s for weekly free tennis sessions led by Sportsmen’s coaches and Boston Police officers. Through the medium of tennis, VAV empowers young individuals to cultivate essential life skills on and off the court. Participants gain the ability to collaborate within a team, set and attain goals, foster mutual respect, develop positive relationships with law enforcement, and resolve conflicts. The program emphasizes a life skills curriculum that focuses on emotional, cognitive, and physical development, equipping participants with the tools to navigate conflicts and challenges through alternative approaches.
