15-year-old Arrested with a Firearm in Back Bay

At about 11:40 AM, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) arrested a 15-year-old juvenile male on firearm related charges.

Officers responded to the area of 150 Newbury Street for a report of a student in possession of a firearm. Officers were met by school staff who stated that they were advised that a student might be in possession of a firearm. School Staff stated they located a firearm from inside the suspected student’s backpack. Detectives secured the firearm, which was later determined to be a Taurus firearm with ten rounds in the magazine.

The 15-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with: Delinquent to wit unlawful possession of a firearm, delinquent to wit unlawful possession of ammunition, delinquent to wit unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and unlawful possession of a firearm on grounds of a school. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
