At about 8:51 PM, on Monday, January 1, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Avante Young-Dabney, 19, of Dorchester on firearm related charges.
Officers responded to the area of 27 Washington Street for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile female suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers were advised that a suspect fled the area towards 20 Castlegate Road. Officers knocked and announced themselves, but no one came to the apartment door. After multiple attempts, three occupants exited the apartment, and it was later determined that one was the shooting suspect.
Young-Dabney was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and armed assault with intent to murder. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
