Firearm Recovered following a foot pursuit in Roxbury

At about 4 PM, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, members of the Youth Violent Strike Force assisted by Mass State Police arrested Elios Alves, 27, of Dorchester, on firearm and drug related charges.

Officers were on directed patrol in the area of Dudley St and Shirley St as a part of a community effort to reduce crime/fear as well as improve the quality of life of the Boston residents.

Officers observed the suspect in the area and appeared to be extremely hypervigilant with a black balaclava mask covering his entire face. Upon noticing the officers the suspect began to quickly walk away while continuously reaching for his right pocket and pinning his side. The officers identified themselves and attempted to make contact with the suspect in fear that he may be armed when he fled. As officers closed in on the suspect, he brandished a firearm and pointed it at one of the troopers in pursuit. After confronting the armed suspect he discarded the firearm and attempted to flee once more, the suspect was apprehended shortly after.

Alves was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, Carrying a loaded firearm without a license, assault with a dangerous weapon to wit: firearm, Possession of Class A, Possession of Class B, & Trespassing. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
