Boston Police Department Commissioner’s Commendation Ceremony

The Boston Police Department honored the bravery of some of its own today in a ceremony celebrating community policing and service to the residents of our City. The Commendation Ceremony took place at 11:00 AM, on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Florian Hall in Dorchester. The ceremony honored officers, detectives, Quincy police, Boston Fire Department, and Civilian Personnel. Commissioner Cox, Mayor Wu, members of the Command Staff, and Community Partners all joined together to present these awards. The commendations involved multiple incidents involving the apprehension of violent suspects, life saving tactics, data tracking, and youth connect programs. We would like to extend our gratitude to officers saving the life of a well-known community member, Miss Myrtle, also known as the Charlie Charlie 2. Officers were speaking with Miss Myrtle at a meeting when they observed her sit in a chair and suffer a medical emergency. Officers and a BFD Lieutenant acted quickly to administer life saving measures. These actions by our officers are an example of the amazing work the men and women of the Boston Police Department do on a daily basis. We congratulate all who were honored and thank you for your service!
