At about 10:19 AM, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, officers assigned to District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) arrested Jan Luis Santiago-Morales, 18, of Brighton on firearm related charges.
Officers responded to the area of 64 Brooks Street, Brighton, for a report of shots fired. On arrival, Officers located ballistic damage inside premise, and did not locate anyone to be injured. Further investigation revealed three individuals, who were identified fleeing the scene. Officers broadcasted a description to the District and the BRIC.
As Detectives were conducting their investigation, they were advised that three suspects were arrested in Dorchester and two firearms were recovered at the scene. As detectives were processing the crime scene, they recovered 19 plastic bags of what appeared to be Crack Cocaine.
After further investigation, Santiago-Morales was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and possession with intent to distribute class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court.
At about 11:30 AM, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Units of District B-2 (Roxbury) and District B-3 (Mattapan), and DYS officers, arrested Javeon Phillips, 20, of Boston, Geremia Knights, 23 of Taunton, and a 17-year-old male on firearm related charges.
Officers were advised of a shooting incident that occurred at 10:19 AM, in the area of 64 Brooks Street, Brighton. Officers were made aware that two suspects fled the area, and had warrants for their arrests.
Officers located the suspects, and observed them enter a motor vehicle in the area of 34 Elder Street, Dorchester. The information was relayed to officers who were able to stop the vehicle before it fled the area.
Officers made contact with the occupants and requested them to exit the vehicle. The operator, Knights, exited the vehicle and attempted to run, but was quickly stopped and a firearm was recovered from his waistband. After further investigation, a second firearm was recovered from inside the motor vehicle.
The first firearm was later determined to be a Smith and Wesson 9mm with one round in the chamber and 14 rounds in the magazine. The second firearm was later determined to be a Smith and Wesson with one round in the chamber and 4 rounds in the magazine.
Knights was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
Phillips was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and his parole violation warrant. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
The 17-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest for a parole violation warrant. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
The two other passengers of the vehicle were promptly released.
