Firearm Recovered After a Traffic Stop in Mattapan

At about 8:52 PM, on Thursday, November 9, 2023, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest of Ruddy Matos-Pimentel, 29, Boston.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Frontenac Street and Blue Hill Avenue when they observed a motor vehicle operating without its front/rear lights illuminating. Officers also observed the vehicle to have excessive window tint. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

Officers made contact with the occupants and immediately observed the passenger to have a pocket knife located in his front pocket. After further investigation, officers requested both occupants to exit the vehicle to conduct a pat frisk. Officers located a firearm from inside the vehicle, and placed both suspects into handcuffs. The firearm was later determined to be a Rock Island Armory M206 with three rounds in the magazine.

Officers searched the vehicle and further located a large amount of narcotics believed to be Fentanyl and Crack Cocaine. Officers later determined the weight of the Fentanyl to be approximately 66 grams.

Matos-Pimentel was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, Trafficking of class A, and possession with intent to distribute class B. He is expected to be arraigned on Dorchester District Court.
