Officers Recovered a Firearm in Dorchester

At about 1:12 AM, on Sunday, October 8, 2023, an officer assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Daniel Larkins, 40, of Boston, on firearm related charges.

The officer was on patrol in the area 735 Washington Street when he observed a motor vehicle operating at a speed greater than reasonable, and fail to stop at a stop sign. The officer activated his marked cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

The officer requested for the operator’s license, which was later determined to be suspended. With the assistance of responding officers, the operator was requested to exit the motor vehicle, and placed into handcuffs.

Officers conducted a motor vehicle inventory search and located a firearm from inside the vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a Jimenez Arms pistol with five rounds in the magazine. Officers also located large amounts of fireworks inside the vehicle, and requested the Explosive Ordinance Team to respond to the scene for proper disposal.

Larkins was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
