At about 12:23 AM, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Chioke Tharps, 50, of Dorchester on firearm related charges.
Officers responded to the area of 154 Washington Street for a report of a person with a gun. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of the suspect, and that the suspect was seen holding a firearm.
Officers observed the suspect walking away from the area. Officers were able to stop the suspect, and observed a firearm underneath a nearby car. The suspect was immediately placed into handcuffs, and actively resisted officers as they attempted to place him in the back of their marked cruiser. The firearm that was recovered was later identified as a Ghost Gun with one round in the chamber and two rounds in the magazine.
Tharps was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
