On Sunday September 24, 2023 at about 9:45 pm Officers assigned to the A-1 (Downtown) Anti-Crime Unit conducted a traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of David Riley, 18, of Charlestown.
Officers were on patrol in the area of 140 Main Street when they observed a vehicle matching the description from a previous shooting incident where 14 rounds were fired. The officers using their knowledge of the incident and vehicle involved conducted a traffic stop and came in contact with the suspect.
Further investigation on scene led to officers issuing an exit order to the suspect, a frisk of the vehicle led to the discovery of a black semi automatic firearm which was located by officers underneath the driver’s seat. The firearm was later determined to be a 9mm Polymer 80 “PF940C” firearm with a light attachment, no serial number, 1 round loaded in the chamber, & the magazine was loaded with 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Riley was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, & Possession of Ammunition without a license. He is expected to be arraigned at Charlestown District Court.
