At about 1:10 PM, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit arrested Walter Hendrick, 22, of Roxbury, at 1165 Blue Hill Avenue. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was wanted on warrants for: Manslaughter, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Witness Intimidation, that were issued out of Suffolk Superior Court for the death of Savion Ellis, 12, of Boston. The suspect will be arraigned in the Suffolk Superior Court on Thursday.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 2:05 PM, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to 35 Fessenden Street for a report of a person shot. On arrival, officers located a 12-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim was identified as Savion Ellis, 12, of Boston.
