At about 5:11 pm on Monday September 18, 2023 Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Dawan Johnson, 45, of Dorchester on Firearm related charges.
Officers received a report of a man who had displayed a firearm during a verbal dispute in the area of Mattapan Sq. During the dispute it was reported that the suspect had racked a round into the chamber & then entered an MBTA bus shortly after heading inbound on Blue HIll Ave. The officers received a description of the suspect and shortly after stopped an MBTA bus with a male matching that description. The officers removed the suspect from the bus and recovered a loaded 9mm pistol from the suspects backpack. The firearm was later discovered to contain 3 live rounds of ammunition in the magazine and 1 live round in the chamber.
Johnson was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, & Assault with a Dangerous Weapon to wit Firearm. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
