Officers Recovered a Loaded Firearm in Roxbury

At about 11:58 AM, on Monday, September 11, 2023, officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) arrested Che-Quan Griswold, 23, of Boston, on Firearm and Drug Charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Egleston Square to address numerous community complaints of drug dealing and quality of life issues. Officers were alerted to two males who they believed had conducted a street level drug transaction.

As officers approached the two males, one male grabbed his waistband and immediately fled from officers. A foot pursuit ensued, and officers observed the suspect discard a plastic bag. Officers were able to safely place the suspect into handcuffs in the area of 1990 Columbus Avenue. The plastic bag was determined to be containing what they believed to be crack cocaine. Officers later recovered a firearm from the suspect’s flight path. The firearm was determined to be a Glock 27 with one round in the chamber and fifteen rounds in an extended magazine. The firearm was also equipped with a “Glock Switch” making the firearm fully automatic.

Griswold was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B and Possession with Intent to Distribute Drugs within 300 feet of a school zone. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
