Officers Recovered a Loaded Firearm After a Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 10:27 pm Sunday September 3rd, 2023, officers assigned to the anti-crime unit of District B3 (Mattapan) arrested Demi Blair 24, of Dorchester on firearm related charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Argyle St & Welles Aves when they observed a motor vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. The officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop.

Upon approaching the vehicle officers encountered a male operator and female passenger. The officers were able to identify both parties, while on the traffic stop the officers could observe the male operator adjusting an item on his waistband and bending forward in attempts to conceal what was being adjusted. The officers immediately noticed a bulge in the operator’s waistband where he was adjusting. The officers requested the male to exit the vehicle to conduct a pat frisk, at which point the operator attempted to flee. An officer reached into the vehicle in attempt to stop the male operator from fleeing and could feel a hard object consistent with a firearm in the suspects waistband in the area he was adjusting. The suspect fled the scene while the officer was still in the vehicle window, dragging him several feet. The officers broadcasted the vehicle and suspect information over the air.

A short time later the vehicle was located with only the female passenger now in the driver’s seat. The officers conducted a traffic stop and removed the female from the vehicle. The officers located a black semi-automatic pistol which the female was seated on top, which was later determined to be a Taurus G2C 9mm pistol with 1 round in the chamber and 9 rounds in the magazine capable of holding 12 rounds. The male operator had fled prior to officers locating the vehicle and a warrant will be sought by detectives for his arrest.

Blair was placed under arrest and charged with the following: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, & unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device. Blair is expected to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court. The officer was evaluated at a local medical facility and sustained minor injuries.
