Firearm Recovered After Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At About 2:28 am on Monday September 4th, 2023 Officers assigned to District B3 (Mattapan) arrested Troy Bascom, 24 of Roxbury on firearm related charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Talbot Ave. when they conducted a CJIS inquiry of a motor vehicle that came back revoked. The officers activated their emergency lights at Blue Hill Ave and Talbot Ave. in attempt to stop the vehicle at which point it continued onto Blue Hill Ave. towards Esmond St. The officers pulled the vehicle over at Blue Hill Ave/Esmond St and gave an exit order to the occupants inside the vehicle. Upon conducting a pat frisk of the passenger, the officers recovered a loaded semi-automatic firearm from the front of his waistband, which was determined to be a Glock 30 pistol with 1 round in the chamber and 9 rounds in the magazine capable of holding 10 rounds of ammunition.

Bascom was placed under arrest and charged with the following: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & unlawful possession of ammunition. Bascom is expected to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court.
