At about 9:58 PM, on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made on-site firearm arrests of three juvenile males.
Officers were on patrol in the area of 38 Crestwood Park when they observed a group of 4 males walking in the area. Their attention was drawn to the group as one male was pinning his arm against his body. Officers attempted to speak with the group, and one of the males attempted to walk away from the area.
Officers conducted a pat frisk of one of the suspects, and recovered a loaded firearm from his hooded sweatshirt pocket. Officers immediately detained the rest of the group, and observed the male walking away, ducking behind a motor vehicle. Officers were able to place the fleeing suspect into handcuffs, and observed a discarded firearm from behind the vehicle.
With the assistance of more responding officers, pat frisks were conducted on the remaining two suspects and recovered a loaded firearm from one of their waistbands. The other juvenile was promptly released.
The three firearms that were recovered were a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine, a Taurus G2C equipped with a laser sight with one round in the chamber and fourteen rounds in the magazine, and the third firearm was a Taurus G3 equipped with a laser sight with one round in the chamber and fourteen rounds in the magazine.
