Loaded Firearm Recovered After Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 12:31 AM, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, an officer assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested, Brandon Pight, 30, of Dorchester, on firearm related charges.

The officer was on patrol in the area of Dorchester Avenue and Hancock Street when he observed a motor vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign. The officer activated his emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

As the vehicle stopped, the suspect immediately fled, and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect and placed him into handcuffs. After further investigation, officers recovered a loaded firearm from inside the motor vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be SCCY CPX-2 with one round in the chamber, and five rounds in the magazine. Officers also recovered cocaine from the suspect’s pocket.

Pight was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
