Officers Recovered 32 Grams of Crack Cocaine After Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 1:02 AM, on Friday, August 18, 2023, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Raphael Duarte, 21, of Brockton, on drug trafficking charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Washington Street when they observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for a red light. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

Officers made contact with the operator and requested his driver’s license which he was unable to produce. Officers requested the operator’s name a date of birth to determine if he had an active license. Officers conducted a CJIS inquiry of the information given which yielded no results. Officers then completed an inquiry of the vehicle’s registration and VIN with negative results.

At this time, officers requested the operator to exit the motor vehicle, and he was placed into handcuffs. Officers searched the motor vehicle and recovered approximately 32 grams of what they believed to be Crack Cocaine.

Duarte was placed under arrest and charged with; Trafficking of Class B, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Unregistered Motor Vehicle. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
