At about 12:28 AM, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) and District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Dawit Bezabih, 37, of Roxbury, on firearm related charges.
Officers responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 10 Dunbar Avenue. Officers were advised by Operations that a suspected motor vehicle had fled the area. As officers were responding to the call, they observed a vehicle matching the description fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. Officers approached the driver, and requested he exit the vehicle. After further investigation, officers recovered a loaded firearm from inside the motor vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 42 with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.
Bezabih was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
