Homicide Detectives are seeking information on the attached image of a motor vehicle in regards to the fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in the area of 165 Wood Ave., Hyde Park. The motor vehicle is described as a dark grey subcompact hatchback that was last seen driving on Wood Ave. in the direction of Cummins Highway. A video clip will be emailed to media outlets on Wednesday night.
The original facts and circumstances surrounding the incident are as follows: At about 9:30 PM, on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, officers assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to the area of 165 Wood Avenue for a report of a Child struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a 4-year-old male suffering life-threatening injuries due to being struck by a motor vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation is that a suspect motor vehicle struck the child, did not stop, and fled the area.
