At about 9:30 PM, on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, officers assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to the area of 165 Wood Avenue for a report of a Child struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a 4-year-old male suffering life-threatening injuries due to being struck by a motor vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation is that a suspect motor vehicle struck the child, did not stop, and fled the area.
