At about 1:43 AM, on Saturday, July 8, 2023, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Michael Majors, 34, of Hyde Park on firearm related charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area of 85 Warren Street when they were flagged down for a possible hit and run. Officers attempted to speak with the operator of a moped to determine if he needed medical assistance. Officers immediately smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the operator and attempted to assist him with taking a seat for his safety.
The suspect began to walk away from officers and was adjusting an object inside his sweatshirt pocket. Officers again tried to assist the suspect with taking a seat, and he immediately ran from officers. A brief foot pursuit ensued, and officers continued to observe the suspect clutching an object inside his sweatshirt. As officers attempted to place the suspect into handcuffs, a violent struggle ensued, and a firearm fell from his sweatshirt pocket. Officers were safely able to place the suspect into handcuffs without further incident.
Majors was placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property, Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
