Investigation Update: Arrest Made in Connection to 2022 Homicide that occurred in the area of 625 Shawmut Avenue

At about 6:30 PM, on Thursday, July 6, 2023, members of the Fugitive Unit arrested Adornous Hazelwood, 21, of Brockton in the area of Otis Street, Brockton pursuant to an outstanding warrant for the murder of Hanser Abraham Moreta-Gonzalezthat occurred in the area of 625 Shawmut Avenue on September 29, 2022.

This arrest came as a result of a coordinated investigation between the Boston Police Homicide Unit and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office which resulted in the issuance of a warrant on multiple charges including Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Armed Robbery. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court.

The original facts and circumstances surrounding the incident are as follows: At about 6:05 PM, on Thursday, September 29, 2022, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) responded to a report of a person shot in the area of 625 Shawmut Avenue in Roxbury.

On arrival, officers located Hanser Abraham Moreta-Gonzalez, suffering from a gunshot wound. Boston EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
