BPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm During Onsite Arrest in Dorchester

At about 2:51 PM on Monday June 26, 2023, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Marlon Alexander, 30, of Roxbury, on firearm and motor vehicle related charges after responding to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 199 Quincy Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers observed the suspect attempting to flee the area on a scooter. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect accelerated towards their cruiser before coming to an abrupt stop, making contact with the front bumper of the vehicle. The officers quickly exited their cruiser and were able to remove the suspect from the scooter at which time he began to violently resist. Following a brief struggle, the officers were able to gain control of the suspect and place him in handcuffs. As the officers began to perform a pat frisk, a loaded firearm fell from the front pocket of the suspect’s hoodie and onto the pavement. District detectives responded to the scene and secured the firearm for processing.

It was later determined that the suspect did not possess a valid driver’s license. During the booking process, officers recovered one small plastic bag of crack cocaine from the suspect’s pants pocket.

The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Class B Drugs, Resisting Arrest and Operating a Motor Vehicle After Revocation or Suspension.
