Officers Recover a Loaded Firearm in Roxbury after InvestigationTest Post

At about 6:05 PM, on Monday, February 6, 2023, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force, and officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury), made an on-site firearm arrest of Tarik Muhammad, 28, of Roxbury.

While on patrol, in the area of Centre Street and Gardner Street, officers attempted to stop a motor vehicle which then fled at a high rate of speed. Officers were able to locate the vehicle a short distance away from them, and observed occupants flee from the vehicle.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to arrest one of the suspects. Officers conducted a pat frisk of Muhammad, and located a loaded firearm from his waistband. The firearm was determined to be a Taurus PT 111 Pro Series with one round in the chamber, and eleven rounds in the magazine.

Muhammad was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Failure to Stop for Police, and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
