
At about 1:18 PM on Thursday, July 29, 2021, officers assigned to District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of Corinth Street and Birch Street in Roslindale. On arrival, officers located Alicia Heywood, 42, of South Easton, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.
Detectives assigned to the Boston Police Homicide Unit conducted an investigation which resulted in the identification of Akil Jackson, 41, of Easton as the suspect wanted in connection to this incident and the subsequent warrant for his arrest issued out of West Roxbury District Court on a charge of Murder.
Earlier today, members of the West Bridgewater Police Department arrested the suspect in the area of West Center Street in West Bridgewater, MA. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
