Early this morning 12:32AM, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested suspect, Nathaniel Miller, 48 of Dorchester and charged him Attempted Breaking and Entering in the Night.
Officers responded to the corner of Middleton St. and Norfolk for a report of a breaking and entering in progress. En route, officers were updated with a suspect description describing the suspect as a black male, with medium build about 5’7” in his 20s or 30s wearing jeans. On arrival, officers observed an individual matching the suspect description walking at the end of the driveway walking away from a broken window in the rear of 403 Norfolk Street. Officers stopped the suspect and questioned him about his purpose for being there and he stated that he was walking from Blue Hill Ave. and was simply cutting through to go home. While speaking to officers, they observed that the suspect had a cut on his hand and it was bleeding. After making note of the cut on the suspect’s hand, the suspect alleged to officers that he had cut his hand while jumping the fence.
Officers then walked down the driveway and there noticed that there was a broken window on the same side of the house that the suspect had been observed walking down. Officers then spoke to an anonymous caller who confirmed that the detained suspect was indeed the same person who was observed jumping over the fence and a short while later, the sound of glass breaking heard on the side of the house.
The suspect was then arrested and charged with the above offenses.
