Reliable Information Leads to Gun Recovery

Last night around 6:10PM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested suspect, Syrus Hampton, 20 of Mattapan and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.
Officers were able to effect this arrest after they received information from a reliable source that the suspect, who was a t a cookout on Holworthy St. was in possession of a firearm and would be leaving soon. After receiving this information, officers observed an individual matching the described suspect’s description walk to a nearby parked car. The suspect within a short time walked away and came out a little while later accompanied by a female companion who got in the driver’s seat of the car and drove away. Officers followed the car and were able to block the car within a short period time. Both parties were removed and a frisk conducted of the car which resulted in the recovery of a loaded 45 caliber gun with the assistance of a canine.

Both parties were initially taken into custody until the suspect admitted to ownership of the gun.
