Around 1:47PM yesterday afternoon, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested suspect, Anthony Bournival, 17 of Roxbury and charged him with Armed Robbery and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Officers initially responded to the area of 18 Jon Elliot Square for an armed robbery in progress. On arrival, officers spoke to two female victims who reported that they were robbed at gunpoint by two suspects, one a white male wearing a white tank top and red shorts and the other, a black male wearing a light cream shirt and black pants. The victim reported that they were walking on Dudley Street toward John Elliot Square when the white male suspect walked up to one of the victims and pointed a handgun at one of the victims. Both victim became alarmed and ran across the street when the black male suspect pulled out a gun also and raised it in the air at which point the white male suspect walked up to the victim and took both their handbags. Both suspects then fled in different directions.
Officers broadcast a description of the suspects and their direction of flight to responding units after speaking to the victims. A short time later, officers stopped a male suspect matching the suspect description of one of the suspects in the area of Tremont St. and Columbus Avenue. There, officers pat frisked the suspect and stooped him in order to see if the victims could positively identify him. Both victims when brought to the suspect’s location positively identified him. Search of the suspect then resulted in the recovery of one of the victim’s ATM card from the suspect’s pocket.
Officers, while the suspect was at the booking desk, recovered several other items belonging to the victims. In addition, officers were able to recover the victims’ bags when someone called after finding the bags dumped in the back of their house. The suspect was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm after he admitted to being in possession of a firearm during the robbery which he passed off to the other suspect.
Detectives will continue to investigate this incident to determine the identity of the second suspect.
