CRASHED GATE LANDS ONE BEHIND BARS FOR OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

At about 2:39am, on Monday, March 28, 2011, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a call to assist the US Postal Police with a driver who crashed through a gate attached to their property in the area of 25 Dorchester Avenue. On arrival, officers observed a motor vehicle with a smashed front windshield. Upon speaking to the operator, officers soon noted that the operator appeared to be intoxicated given her glassy eyes, slurred speech and an inability to remain steady on her feet. Officers took the suspect into custody. The suspect was given and failed a breathalyzer test. 
Barbara Whitney, 55, of Illinois was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol.
