DON\’T FORGET TO SET YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD

The Boston Police Department kindly reminds you to remember to spring ahead. Clocks should be set ahead one hour later this evening. The official time to spring ahead is 2:00am, Sunday, March 13, 2011. As for the history of daylight savings time, the idea, first floated back in 1784 by one Benjamin Franklin, didn\’t catch on until some 100 years later when the U.S. Railroads instituted a standardized time for their train schedules. However, the standardized time change was only imposed during World War I and World War II.  And, when the wars came to an end, so did the idea of the standardized time change. However, Congress finally made standardized time change official when it enacted the Uniform Time Act of 1966.
