At about 3:06pm, on Monday, February 21, 2011, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a disturbance at the Pine Street Inn at 444 Harrison Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to Pine Street employees who stated that two men entered the shelter and began fighting over a backpack. Employees separated the parties and then asked to see the contents of the bag. When the contents of the bag were revealed, employees observed what looked to be a brand new laptop computer. Given their observation of the new laptop, employees called police. Once on scene, officers asked the suspect where he got the computer. To which, the suspect replied, “My friend from New York gave it to me.”
While inspecting the computer, officers located owner information on the back of the computer. Upon calling the owner, officers learned that the owner had reported his backpack stolen earlier in the day while at the food court at South Station.
Officers arrested Christian Boucher, 33, of Boston and charged him with Receiving Stolen Property and Larceny from the Person.
