At about 9:43pm, on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of Brooks and Saratoga Streets. On arrival, officers located the victim who stated that he was walking by himself when three males approached, showed a knife and robbed him. According to the victim, the suspects took his wallet and cell phone. The victim further stated that one of the suspects was wearing a blue mask and another was wearing a shirt with the number ‘18’ affixed to it. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects over the police radio. Additionally, officers conducted a search of the area accompanied by the victim. As officers were driving in the area of Brooks and Princeton Streets, the victim observed the individuals who robbed him and stated, “That’s them.”
Officers stopped their cruiser and approached the suspects. A pat frisk of the suspects enabled officers to see and seize a blue mask and a knife. Moreover, officers noted that one of the suspects was wearing a shirt with the number ‘18’ affixed to it.
After all three suspects were positively identified by the victim, officers arrested a 16 year-old male, Carlos Velasquez, 18, of Boston, Maynor Mejia, 18, of Revere and charged all three with Armed Robbery.
