Investigators Are Seeking a Grey Hyundai Santa Fe with Front-End Damage
Detectives are releasing surveillance video of the suspect vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run incident which claimed the life of 24 year old Andrew Prior of Boston (originally from Syracuse, New York). Andrew, a recent graduate of Northeastern University, was struck and killed on November 14th by a speeding motorist driving a Grey Hyundai Santa Fe.
Police are asking the community to be on the lookout for a Hyundai Santa Fe, 2001 to 2006 model and either a metallic charcoal grey or silver in color. The surveillance video also shows that this particular Hyundai Santa Fe has a sunroof and roof rack. The video also indicates that there are at least two occupants inside the vehicle.
As is apparent in the video, the suspect vehicle sustained significant front-end damage. Detectives believe that the Hyundai Santa Fe has heavy front-end damage to the front right tire and headlight. Detectives are asking Auto Body shops to be vigilant and contact authorities if they receive a customer seeking repairs to this type of vehicle.
On November 14, 2010 around 11:43pm, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the intersection of Tremont and Terrace Streets for a pedestrian struck.
On arrival, officers located an unresponsive 24-year-old male victim, later identified as Andrew Prior, who was being treated by EMS. Mr. Prior was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital suffering life threatening injuries where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
At this time, the investigation indicates that the victim was struck while on a scooter on Tremont Street near the corner of Columbus Ave outside of the Roxbury Crossing T station. The suspect vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed when he struck Mr. Prior and continued on Tremont towards Brigham Circle.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have information on this vehicle or the incident to please come forward.
