POLICE ARREST SUSPECT WANTED IN CONNECTION TO CHURCH BREAK

SUSPECT ALSO CHARGED IN SEVERAL OTHER BREAKS

***CORRECTION: Suspect has not been charged in connection to break in at Mission Church

On Thursday, December 2, 2010, one day after requesting and seeking the public’s help in an effort to locate the suspect wanted in connection with the break in at St. Leonard’s Church at 14 North Bennet Street on Monday, November 29, 2010, officers were able to locate and arrest Richard Shiner, 44, of Boston at about 10:00am this morning in the area of 39 Boylston Street. The Boston Police Department would like to thank the media outlets who aided this investigation by publicizing and broadcasting Mr. Shiner’s image and information. Shiner to be charged with Burglary and Larceny from a Building.

In addition to the above charge, detectives continue to look into and investigate the possibility that Shiner may be responsible for or have some connection to several other church breaks throughout the city. As such, detectives continue to look into and weigh the likelihood of additional charges relative to the suspect.    

As for now, Richard Shiner will be charged with 5 counts of Burglary and Larceny from a Building at the following locations:

  • ·         St. Leonard’s Church at 14 North Bennet on Area A-1 (Downtown) (1 count)
  • ·         St. Anthony’s Shrine at 100 Arch Street on Area A-1 (Downtown)(4 counts)
