About 2:20pm, on Thursday, November 11, 2010, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call for an armed robbery at 429 Washington Street (EB Horn Jewelers). Officers spoke to store employees who stated that a white male (wearing a gray hat and a blue puffy coat) entered the store, showed a firearm and robbed the store. According to store employees, the suspect was able to steal a tray of diamond engagement rings. After the suspect grabbed the tray, store employees say the suspect fled the store on foot in the direction of Downtown Crossing. A search of the area proved unsuccessful.
Two days later, on Saturday, November 13, 2010, officers received information from a reliable source claiming to know the suspect’s whereabouts. Acting on the information provided, officers proceeded to a location in South Boston. While riding in the area of 30 West Broadway, officers observed an individual who matched the description of the suspect wanted in connection with the armed robbery. After stopping the individual, officers were able to confirm that he was, in fact, the suspect wanted for the crime. A search of the suspect enabled officers to locate and take possession of several rings consistent with the ones taken during the robbery. Officers also recovered an undisclosed amount of a Class B Drug (Cocaine).
Officers arrested Coleman Nee, 30, of Boston and charged him with Receiving Stolen Property and Trafficking Class B Drug (Cocaine). Additional charges are expected to come as the investigation continues.
