FORMER LUCERNE STREET GANG MEMBER FOUND GUILTY OF MURDER

JAMES WALKER SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON

On Monday, November 8, 2010, James “Gunna” Walker, a Lucerne Street Gang Member, was convicted of Murder in the shooting death of Antoine Perkins some four years ago.

On Saturday, July 22, 2006, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a person or persons shot in the area of 743 Morton Street. On arrival, officers located two male victims, both suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. One of the victims, Antoine Perkins, 20, of Mattapan, suffering from life threatening injuries, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced.

James Walker, 24, of Boston was later arrested and charged in the shooting death of Antoine Perkins.

During the week-long trial, Assistant District Attorney Edward Krippendorf of District Attorney Dan Conley’s Homicide Unit proved that Walker, a notorious member of the Lucerne Street Doggz street gang, approached Perkins, as he sat on the steps of his Morton Street home, and shot him point blank, inflicting an injury that would ultimately claim Perkins’ life.

Said Commissioner Ed Davis, “Today’s conviction should send a strong message to those who would do harm to others in our community. Although justice may not always be swift, in this case it is certain. James Walker isn’t just going away for a long time, he’s going away for the rest of his life. And, those who know him should think twice about resorting to similar gun violence and making similarly bad choices.”
