Traffic Advisory – Saturday and Sunday, June 26 and 27, 2010

The Boston Transportation Department is advising drivers to drive with caution and watch for pedestrians in the roadways this weekend.

The \”Out of the Darkness Overnight\” event to raise awareness for suicide prevention will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 26 and 27.  An estimated 1,700 participants will gather on City Hall Plaza at 7:30 PM on Saturday and walk through the streets of the City until 5:30 AM on Sunday.  The route to be taken is Cambridge Street to Tremont Street, right onto Park Street, left onto Beacon Street, right onto Massachusetts Avenue, entering the City of Cambridge, returning to Boston at Cambridge Street in Brighton, left onto the Charles River Bike Path, right over the foot bridge, right onto Silber Way, right onto Commonwealth Avenue, to the water stop, left onto Commonwealth Avenue, right onto Brookline Avenue, left onto Yawkey Way, left onto Van Ness Street, right onto Ipswich Street, left onto Boylston Street, continuing onto Essex Street, left onto Atlantic Avenue, right onto Summer Street, continuing onto L Street, left onto Day Boulevard, to Castle Island, right onto Day Boulevard, left onto East Broadway, right onto L Street, right onto D Street, left onto Seaport Boulevard, right onto World Trade Center Walk, left onto Seaport Boulevard, right onto Atlantic Avenue, left onto Cross Street, right onto North Washington Street, left onto Causeway Street, left onto Merrimac Street, continuing onto Congress Street to City Hall Plaza.

To accommodate this event, temporary signs will be posted to prohibit stopping from 5 AM on Saturday to 9 AM on Sunday on the City Hall side of Cambridge Street, from Court Street heading northbound and ending at the property line of the JFK Federal Building, and including parking meter numbers BA004 through BA020.

 In addition, on Sunday, June 27, 2010, from 6 AM to 10:50 PM, Lansdowne Street, from Brookline Avenue to Ipswich Street, will be closed to vehicular traffic for the WFNX Summer Concert.
