Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon Suspect Arrested

Early this morning around 2:32AM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the intersection of Blue Hill Ave. and West Cottage Street for a person with a gun.

On arrival, met and spoke to the victim who reported that he had just been “pistol whipped” by some guys who fled in a car. As officers were speaking to the victim, a white Cadillac pulled up to Blue Hill Ave. at which point the suspect yelled to officers, “That’s the car! That’s them!” Officers followed the car and attempted to stop it but it failed to stop despite the fact that officers had their lights and sirens on. Officers, after a while, were able to block in the suspect vehicle and stopped the car.  The three individuals in the car were removed from the car due to the nature of the call and the car checked for weapons to no avail.

A bring back was conducted with the victim who positively identified the driver as the person who gave the gun to the unknown suspect who pistol whipped him.  The operator, Gregory R. Wright, 31 of Randolph was arrested and charged with Refusal to Stop for Police Officers and Assault and battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon and one of his passengers for an outstanding default warrant.
