At approximately 10:32PM, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested a 13 year-old male juvenile from Roxbury and charged him with Attempted Armed Robbery and several counts of Assault and Battery on Police Officers.
Officers initially responded to the intersection of Dix and Lafield Streets for an armed robbery in progress. Once there, officers found out that the victim had fled the scene of the incident and was hiding in a back yard on Center Street. Officers responded to the victim’s location and there learned that six to seven young males had attempted to rob him of his bicycle. The victim further elaborated that the group surrounded him and the arrested suspect exclaimed, “Yo! Give me the bike!” The victim refused to give up his bicycle and rode off but was again confronted by the group in a darker area where they attempted to take his wallet from his pocket. During this second confrontation, one member of the group pointed something at the victim’s head at which point the victim, believing that the item pointed at his head was a gun, pushed the suspect pointing the item at his head away and fled on his bike.
The victim was able to provide officers with an excellent description of the suspect that had demanded his bike along with the bicycle he was wearing. While interviewing the victim, the suspect rope up a nearby street and the victim exclaimed, “That’s the guy who wanted to take my bike!” Officers then stopped the suspect for further investigation. The suspect attempted to give officers several false names before they were able to ascertain his identity. Once the officers confirmed the suspect identification, it was discovered that he had several outstanding warrants.
The suspect, resisted arrest and kicked officers while they were trying to place him in handcuffs and attempted to escape.
