Suspect Sustains Fatal Injuries after Exchange of Gunfire
Last night, Saturday, April 3, 2010 around 9:41PM, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force (Gang Unit) were in the area of Navillus Terrace and Winter Street in Dorchester when they approached a group for the purpose of conducting Field Interrogation/ Observation Reports (FIOFS).
While conducting the FIOFS of the group, a male suspect fled from the group and was pursued by officers. In the course of the pursuit, the suspect turned around and there was an exchange of gunfire. During this exchange, the suspect, a 19 year old male, sustained fatal injuries.
A firearm was recovered at the scene of the incident. The Boston Police Homicide Unit, Boston Police Firearm Discharge Investigation Team, the State Police Firearm Discharge Investigation Team under the direction of the Suffolk County District attorney’s Office is actively investigating the facts and circumstances of this incident.
