On Monday, March 1, 2010, at approximately 6:56pm, Boston Police Officers assigned out of Area D-14 (Allston / Brighton), responded to the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Allston Street for a report of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers observed a female lying on the ground in the area of 1387 Commonwealth Avenue, Allston. Boston EMS was already on-scene rendering medical assistance to the female victim. She was then transported to Brigham & Woman’s Hospital with serious injuries. She is currently listed in critical condition.
At this time the victim is only being described as a white female, 68 years of age from Brighton.
Officers spoke with the female operator of the vehicle that struck the victim and learned that she was traveling on Commonwealth Avenue and came to a stop due to the red light at the intersection of Allston Street. After stopping, the female operator proceeded when the light turned green. At this time, the operator informed officers that the woman ran across the street towards the tracks when her vehicle struck her. It should be noted that the operator of the vehicle immediately stopped and awaited the arrival of the officers.
The Boston Police accident reconstruction team was notified and responded in order to reconstruct the scene. Area D-14 Detectives are actively investigating the incident. No charges or violations have been issued at this time.
